The need for medical professionals in rural communities has never been greater. One of the paramount goals of Prairie View Health Resources, Inc is to provide the means for recruitment and retention of high-quality healthcare workers at Keefe Memorial Hospital and Prairie View and Kit Carson clinics,
located in rural Cheyenne County in Eastern Colorado. Currently the hospital relies extensively on temporary staff and pool or float employees. Community members have recognized this, as well as the fact that many youth from the area are not willing to return to their local communities based on the lack of quality jobs present. Prairie View Health Resources, Inc is hoping to encourage a change by funding the education of individuals that plan to enroll in an approved program and intend to work for Keefe Memorial Health Services District. With this in mind, PVHR has established an education assistance program. The concept of this program is to fund the education of students in exchange for employment within Keefe Memorial Health Services District. This program provides funds to be used towards tuition,
supplies, and other related educational expenses for students enrolled in approved programs. Programs include Doctorate of Medicine, Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, Registered Nurse, Hospital Administration, Radiology Technician, Laboratory Technician. Prairie View Health Resources, Inc is requesting $5,000.00 to go towards a total budget of $25,000.00 per award. An example of a previous
recipient was a Registered Nursing student who received $6,000.00 per semester for tuition and supplies. This student was awarded a total of four semesters ($24,000.00) and agreed to employment as a Registered Nurse for a four year term.
Prairie View Health Resources, Inc is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the healthcare needs of Cheyenne County. Our goal is to provide the means for recruitment and retention
of high-quality providers and assist with the acquisition of cutting-edge technologies and materials needed to provide excellent healthcare for the members of our community and neighbors. Prairie View Health Resources, Inc was founded in 1988 for the promotion of county health services, including but not
limited to, soliciting funds, sponsoring fundraising events for physician recruitment and support, and the purchase of hospital and medical equipment, sponsoring health clinics and activities, and seeking membership thereof.
Prairie View Health Resources will be able to provide another scholarship with this financial assistance from Eastern Colorado Bank. PVHR has recently paid the tuition of two students. With increased funding to this program, PVHR hopes to entice a medical provider to reside in Cheyenne County and be employed at Keefe Memorial Hospital.
